Someone once told me

That sometimes the moon

Feeling jealous of the gods

Would hide itself away

Afraid of their light

And the power they had

Over the earth

.

As I sit and wait

.

I watch as it

Illuminates your skin

You shine so much

And so bright

I can almost see trough you

I can see your veins

The way you sleep

Your chest moving as you breathe

Your hips half covered by the sheets

It’s like you are dancing with an invisible lover

That’s not me

.

The moon starts to hide away

During the night

Becoming just a sparkle

A tiny particle

On the horizon

The dance is over

I’m not a spectator anymore

The light is no longer a thief

The moon had to hide away

Seeing that you were sliding back to me

In the end

Sadness makes us envious

Of what we see

.

You slowly wake from your slumber

I can feel my heart speed

It strikes in my chest like a thunder

And I understand

How it’s like to be afraid

I feel the urge to hide

But you are fast to stop me

Hand on my wrist

And you have to say just one thing

“Stay”
